* Flash Flood Warning for... Kings (Brooklyn) County in southeastern New York... Western Nassau County in southeastern New York... Queens County in southeastern New York...

* Until 1245 PM EDT.

* At 1028 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 1.5 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Jamaica, Flatbush, Flushing, Valley Stream, Glen Cove, Coney Island, Garden City, Lynbrook, Mineola, Woodmere, Rockaway Beach, Great Neck, Crown Heights, Kennedy Airport, Laguardia Airport, RFK Bridge, The Verrazano Narrows Bridge, Jackson Heights, Forest Hills and Canarsie.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.

* WHERE...A portion of southeast New York, including the following areas, Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn), New York (Manhattan), Northern Queens, Richmond (Staten Island) and Southern Queens.

* WHEN...Through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Rounds of heavy showers with embedded thunderstorms are expected through this afternoon with localized rainfall rates of 1" to possibly 2" per hour possible. Any training of thunderstorms may result in localized flash flooding. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

* WHAT...For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 5 to 9 feet expected in the surf zone. For the High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip currents expected.

* WHERE...Kings (Brooklyn), Southwest Suffolk, Southeast Suffolk, Southern Queens and Southern Nassau Counties.

* WHEN...From 6 AM to 9 PM EDT Monday.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Life-threatening rip currents are likely for all people entering the surf zone. Anyone visiting the beaches should stay out of the surf. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
